Medical transcription is the process of transcribing physicians dictated voice recordings into text formats.

When a doctor discusses with patients about their health problems, doctor uses a digital voice recorder or hand-held cassette recorder or regular telephone to record the conversation. This recorded patient’s conversation is accessed by a medical transcription company or medical transcriptionist as voice files. Medical transcriptionist listens to these dictated audio recordings and converts into text format. This medical record of a patient is a legal document.

The transcribed medical transcription documents from voice recordings to text format should carry a high range of accuracy. To reach high accuracy of medical terms medical transcriptionist should have more hearing acuity, knowledge about medical terms and good typing speed.

Medical transcription industry is one of the fastest developing fields. In United States medical transcribers are in demand because the entire healthcare field is based on insurance and patient’s detailed medical reports are needed for processing insurance claims.

There are hospitals, clinics, healthcare centers and Medical transcription companies hiring medical transcriptionist as an in-house staff. There are lots of home based medical transcriptionist working in home and earning money.
