Medical Transcription Typing
Course 3 -
Keyboarding
This is another critical area that
needs extensive training and practice before actually going into
work. The quality and speed of the work completely relies on
this skill of an MT. So a medical transcriptionist must have
practical focus in having a good keyboarding skill.
Fingering
This is where excellence comes into play. A MT must have depth
fingering knowledge. Fingering is nothing but a term used in
typing field to address the skill of typing the contents without
looking into the keyboard. A good typing skill is definitely
required for medical transcription job. Because in work place
you will not have enough time to waste in typing by looking at
the keyboard!
Speed
As said 'Speed Thrills', it is so in MT. A high speed medical
transcriptionist will be paid high when comparing to low speed
medical transcriptionist. Time is money and hence no one will
prefer a medical transcriptionist with low speed skills. So
guys, try to practice and push hard your typing skill.
Quality
Quality is another pillar in medical transcription. Though you
may have essential skill, excellent typing skill, wonderful
interpretation skill if you do not have the required quality it
is waste. At the end of the day it is quality that matters and
nothing else. Most of the clients ask quality in the range of
99.9%. In order to comply with today's quality compliance
medical transcriptionist must be well trained to deliver high
quality work.
Bottom line
- Medical transcriptionist must have balanced speed
and quality skills. Good quality worker with low speed and high
speed worker with poor quality will be thrown out!
